Our History

The Seed to Lacrosse the Globe

"Wait, you mean I get to hit people with sticks?" My ten-year-old self couldn’t believe my parents were introducing me to lacrosse. Like most kids, baseball had been my go-to spring sport, but the idea of running around like a samurai, stick in hand, with no one telling me to stop? That was a dream come true for a high-energy kid like me.

In the spring of 1992, a man from Maryland, passionate about sharing lacrosse himself, brought the sport to our small town of West Chester, Pennsylvania. In fourth grade—the youngest age we were allowed to play—the field became our arena. Our coaches were high school and college players who felt more like big brothers than instructors. They led us with patience and enthusiasm, sporting old Bacharach bucket helmets that, while more protective than comfortable, became symbols of the sport’s rich history.

That first season changed everything. My friends and I fell in love with the game, spending nearly every season playing together through high school. In college, lacrosse became the foundation for friendships that would last a lifetime. Those bonds were solidified in shared moments—weddings, vacations, and the kind of banter only teammates can understand.

Lacrosse isn’t just the fastest game on two feet; it’s a crucible for building character, teamwork, and lasting relationships.

Fast forward two decades, and as a parent, I wanted to share this incredible sport with my own children. In a town where lacrosse was virtually unknown, I gathered a few sticks, a goal, and some eager kids, organizing a small clinic. The response was beyond anything I expected. What started as a modest gathering quickly grew, doubling in size within days. The love for lacrosse was as contagious as ever.

That’s when I realized: this wasn’t just a local opportunity, but a global one. I saw the potential to spread the joy, camaraderie, and life lessons of lacrosse beyond the borders of our town. Lacrosse the Globe was born from the vision of sharing this sport with children everywhere, breaking down barriers, and creating connections through the game we love.

With every clinic and every new player, Lacrosse the Globe stays rooted in its origins while reaching for a global impact. This isn’t just a program—it’s a movement, built on the belief that lacrosse can bring people together, teaching character and teamwork along the way. Join us as we take this journey, from our backyard to the world, one lacrosse stick at a time.
